Who Is It For?
If you are an NBKI Cardholder, you can download and use the NBKI Authenticator Application to secure your online payments.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The NBKI Authenticator Application helps reduce payment fraud by adding a layer of security for online debit card transactions by authenticating the cardholder when shopping online.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH THE APP?
- You can view your balance and recent transactions
- Activate your card
- Verify your identity biometrically or via SMS when paying online
How do I get it?
You can download the application to your mobile device from the Google or Apple store and activate it in few simple steps:
- Install the free NBKI Authenticator Application from Google Play Store or the App Store
- Swipe through the welcome screens explaining the app’s features
- Enter your date of birth and mobile phone number
- Read and accept the bank’s privacy policy and terms and conditions
- A reference word (To be communicated to the call center agent to finalize the activation) will appear on the device instructing you to contact the bank on +47 21499979 and follow the instructions of the operator (do not press the confirm verification button before going through the next steps)
- For your security, the bank will perform an identity check
- Once the identity check has been completed and verified, press the confirm verification button. The bank will send a one-time password (OTP) via SMS. If you have problem receiving the OTP via SMS, you can request it to be sent to your email address. (ensure this is the same email address as the one we have on record for you)
- Enter the OTP and set up your personal code. You will then be fully registered
- Set your static password; by selecting ‘Safe Online Shopping’ within the card settings in the application

How does 3D Secure protect me?
3D Secure will verify your identity by sending you the one-time password (OTP) through SMS, and Biometrics. This ensures you are meeting 2 of the 3 requirements for Strong Customer Authentication:
- Something you know (SMS OTP and static password)
- Something you are (Fingerprint or Facial recognition)
- Something you have (Mobile phone)

What is Strong Customer Authentication?
Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) reduces fraud and makes online and offline contactless payments more secure.

Do I have to download the application?
Yes, even if wish to use SMS OTP and static password you still need to set your static password in the APP allowing you to purchase online over EUR 30 or equivalent.
